Wedding Numero Uno

We went to the Motherland.
It was a whirlwind trip, mostly because my sister (Auntie Em) and Michael's brother (Uncle Tiny) both got married in the same week.

First, Tyler and Krista's wedding -
We went here:
Took part in this:
(Michael's family photo)
and tried somewhat successfully to keep him clean for pictures.
Best. Picture. Ever.
Four generations.
Yeah, I'm behind the bloggity. I've got to wade through mountains of post-vacation laundry, mail and errands before I can catch up. Patience please.

And an announcement: Michael started his CHIEF and FINAL year of residency today! You can't see me, but feel free to imagine the little jig I am doing right now in my jammies.

Morsels

This morning Thomas asked me to kiss the owie on his finger. I refused, since I had just observed him moments before with that exact finger up his nose.

Yesterday Michael slept away the afternoon at home subsequent to working the night shift at the hospital. I tried to be extra quiet when I sneaked into our room to get something, but I think I must have disturbed him since he sat straight up in bed, looked at me and asked "Have the labs come back yet?" After I replied "Ummmmm . . . . no?" He laid right back down and continued to sleep.

I had to have a little chat with Seth after an embarrassing incident in sacrament meeting. Thomas was climbing over him to get some crayons and may have delivered an unintentional blow to Seth which caused him to yelp "Ouch! My (slang word for part of the male anatomy that is also a word describing something collected by squirrels)!" I swear, I about died. I can guarantee that is not an expression he learned at home.

Lastly, this afternoon Alice was reading through a copy of Amelia Bedelia that we had checked out from the local library. Some creative individual had used a pen to embellish the front of Amelia Bedelia's apron so that she looked a lot more like Betty Boop or Blondie Bumstead than Amelia Bedelia. Try explaining THAT to a five year old.

P.S. Seth wants a piano for his birthday. Seriously. A piano. He's actually progressed to the point in his musical career that he should graduate from our little electronic keyboard . . . but we have a few problems.
1. We are moving in a year. And we have many stairs. The idea of moving a piano in, then out, then into another place all within a year is a little daunting. But not as unappealing as the idea of keeping Sether on the keyboard for another year.
2. Our condo is smallish. Whatever piano we find would have to be smallish too. Like Wurlitzer/Spinet smallish.
3. The budget for such a purchase is smallish too.
4. Michael is a piano snob . . . he's not super thrilled about the idea of another digital piano. (Tangent: I'm not going to hold this snobbery against him. He puts up with my snobbery about different things . . . . bread (well, food in general), schools, and shampoo to name a few. We can work with this. End tangent.)
5. Suddenly there is a dearth of piano postings on Craigslist. Weird, since it was a used piano mecca just a few months ago. Unfortunately, now that I'm ready to buy, there isn't much to choose from.
If you hear of any used local pianos for sale would you keep us posted? Much thanks to you.

On Our Paternal Figure

Dr. Michael Cheerio, BS, BA, MD, DMD, DDS, PHd, MA, XYZ PDQ, DAD, XOXOX.
He earned more letters after his name. We are so proud.

Musings on Michael as a dad:

- According to the kiddos, his grilled cheese sandwiches are far superior to mine. Probably due to his prolific use of butter, which I can never bring myself to use so gratuitously.

- Always up for reading a picture book, watching Star Wars and eating fruit snacks.

- Explains black holes, atoms, physics, electricity and microbes for bedtime stories to the kids. They eat it up.

- Can fall asleep on the living room floor while the kidlets are using him as a play structure.

- Has taken the punks camping twice already this summer. Seth asks to go again every weekend.

- Has passed on to our children the hereditary trait of sleep walking and talking. Some wacky stuff goes on here at night. I'm so close to getting a hotel bolt on the front door so that Seth doesn't take off down the street at 2:00 am.

- The entire neighborhood knows when he gets home after work by the yells of joyous rejoicing echoing from our front door.

He's a great one. We'll keep him.
Happy Father's Day!
