Festival Weekend

Just because Michael worked all weekend doesn't mean the rest of us can't have any fun. I took the kids to The Festival of the Nativities (Thousands of Nativity scenes from all over the world displayed in a church building) in Vancouver, and The Festival of the Trees at the Convention Center.

Here we are in Joseph's Workshop at The Nativity Festival. The kiddos played carpenter and built the baby Jesus out of wood.
I would have taken pictures of some of the gorgeous nativity scenes, but the event hosts were getting nervous about having two high-energy little boys so close to them. We decided to split for the children's rooms after about five minutes.

Making beds for baby Jesus.
Seeing Santa at The Festival of the Trees. T wasn't interested in getting too close to Santa. He just yelled "I want Elmo!" from a good safe distance of about ten feet away.
The kids got teddy bears at the Teddy Bear Hospital. Alice and Seth's bears had broken arms, and T's bear had a cast on it's leg. Here they are checking out their bear's X-rays.
An extremely rare shot of all three kids looking at the camera at the same time. It is probably too much to hope for uniform smiles too.
Our favorite tree display, Home for Christmas. Some of these Christmas tree packages auction off for tens of thousands of dollars. Man, we would love to bring that playhouse home . . . especially since it was stocked full with toys inside! Unfortunately I didn't bid, and even if I had, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have won.
And finally, our family project, built from a few-dollar kit from Michael's Craft. The kids really like it, and having the creche makes me feel better about not buying one of those chocolate-a-day advent calendars this year.
