HGTV . . . Twins Room

Before: (These are the pictures Michael took before we bought the house)
I call it the hot purple room.
After:
Pink has always been my favorite color.
There are a few more things to add . . . it still looks a little naked, but you can see progress.
Lanie made these . . . aren't they the sweetest little dolls?
And one of the cutest things in the room: Amelia!

Celebrating the Twincesses

The three best party planners ever: Lanie, Phoebe and Rosemary.
Brunch!
So thankful to have so many great friends . . . Why didn't I get a group shot? This is just a fraction of who came.
And everyone was SO generous!
I needed Alice to help open all the loot, because there was two of everything, you know. She is still beside herself with joy and excitement over two new sisters.
Double the onesies and sleepers . . . I didn't have many girly things since the ultrasound tech told us Alice was a boy. She wore blue and green to bed most nights. She turned out okay anyway though.
More fabulous friends!
Teeny tiny bracelets that a good friend made . . . one silver and pink, one silver and purple.
I was so impressed by these gorgeous twincess cookies that Lanie made for favors, all handmade and hand-piped shortbread crowns. They looked like a labor of love, and tasted divine!
Everyone present also wrote in a little book some twin advice . . . something I'm really going to need in a few weeks!

Thanks again ladies, for a lovely, lovely day. It is great to remember that I'm all lumpy and puffy for a good reason!

This Aisle is Pink

There is a quote from Toy Story 2 that Michael and I like to say to each other every now and then. Well, there are a few classic quotes from that movie really, but aside from the monkey chow line and the "Mr. Angry Eyes" line, our favorite is when Mr. Potato head shouts, "We haven't been down this aisle before. It's pink!"

That is how we feel about Alice. We haven't been down an aisle this pink before. She is a quintessential girl, which is good because this house needs a little more dainty and a little less rough and tumble (not to mention boogers, smells of an intolerable nature and an insatiable desire to play with plastic swords).
Last week we went to IKEA to buy a bookshelf for her room and a dresser for T, and this is what she convinced us to come home with:
A PINK bookshelf. We did not originally intend to buy a PINK bookshelf, but she batted her eyelashes at us and used her feminine wiles on her daddy to get what she wanted. Now that it is in her room, I realize that I really like the pink bookshelf. Not that her room needed any more pink . . . it just needed more Alice.

The pink Lack shelf holds some of her favorite Christmas presents. Remember how she wanted to ask Santa for a real life-size remote control flying pink glittery horse? This is what she had to settle for. And she was thrilled to do so.
And this:
I'm glad that she loves that Playmobil Circus as much as she does, because it only had a million gajillion tiny pieces for me to assemble, and I was almost not happy with it for a few moments here and there during its construction (however, since I was not at all involved in the assemblage of the IKEA furninture, I had very little room to complain).

Other Alice favorites include these books:
Alice the Fairy, I like. Pinkalicious is a little weird, but it makes her happy . . . and, as evidenced by the pink bookshelf, that is apparently the most important thing.
And of course, the Lelli Kellys. As much as I love them, I'm nearly sick of seeing them. I hate to imagine the tears that will be shed when she can't jam her feet into them any longer.
